Thank you Jim Richards!! I've been thinking of your family recently with the blackout news from Broken Hill. Hope all is well xx
Thank you for your Booktober support -- and as promised -- here is my personalised book recommendation to you! (Aside from all of the Cosmere, haha)
Assassin's Apprentice by Robin Hobb
I had to take a gamble and try and pick a fantasy you haven't read yet! There's every chance maybe you have picked up these books already. There are 9 all together. (3 individual trilogies). It's hard for me to say which trilogy is best, some are stronger or weaker for different reasons.
But what these books do consistently well is character. I have all the faith in the world in your world-building skills and knowledge of how to design magic systems. So the direction I thought I could push you is character. These books have main characters that will make your heart bleed, and villains that will haunt you long after you put the books down. I still have distinct memories of these villains giving me a sense of claustrophobia while reading these books! Incredibly well-crafted villains, and protagonists that make me just so gosh darn mad for their choices.
For a master class in character in a great fantasy setting (with great mysteries as well) look no further than Assassin's Apprentice!
Well done Ally
